Head of HR at Watu Africa, Mombasa, Kenya
September 2020 — Present
At Watu Africa I'm responsible for driving Global HR Strategy and supporting business' fast growth and expansion to new markets.
Based in Mombasa, I'm currently supporting HR operations in Kenya, Uganda, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Rwanda, DRC with a total headcount of 2,600+ employees and growing on average +5% per month.

Key Achievements:
- Introduced HRIS that helped to significantly reduce the time spent on routine work through automation of major HR processes. It also led to reduction of human error, increased transparency, and employee engagement
- Restructured the HR team through introducing regional roles and identifying major HR streams to ensure business continuity and adequate levels of support
- HC grew from 800+ employees to 2600+ employees within 18 months, 4 new countries were launched
- Optimised payroll processing through reviewing the existing process which led to a significant minimization of errors
- Developed and conducted a series of people skills trainings and workshops to upskill the management level
- Together with People & Culture Manager, developed and implemented Performance Management Framework and trained the staff on the process
- Reviewed and restructured existing salary structure, introduced levels and alignment across different roles and departments

Was leading some key talent projects, such as Performance Management, Employee Engagement Survey, Pulse and Upward Feedback Surveys, Coaching Programme

Key Achievements:
- Led Global Employee Engagement Survey project:

1. achieved 93% participation rate
2. transferred data analysis from Excel to Tableau, which reduced risk of human error and team's time by at least 50%. Overall positive feedback from the team and stakeholders on the smoothly run project
- Developed regular cadence of Manager Pulse Surveys, piloted in some teams before launching globally
- Created and facilitated Coaching Module as a part of Manager Leadership program (2-hour webinar + 6 hours face-to-face workshop) which received the highest rating from participants
- Coached managers on different managerial topics, consistently receiving positive feedback
- Led Performance Management Process: identifying opportunities for improvement, running experiments with smaller teams, facilitating trainings for managers on how to conduct reviews and provide feedback
- Upgraded and facilitated a program for newcomers on Agoda culture, preferences, and collaboration
